What exactly is a doula?

I was like this with my first birth. I thought I didn't need one of those for just "emotional support" and that it wasn't something worth the money. Going through this training and speaking with other people who have used one have completely changed my mind and I will definitely be hiring one with my next birth. Becoming a Doula

After everything happened, I kept looking for something I could do to help others who had to face what I did.  Those who struggled (and continue to struggle) to get pregnant, those that have faced a miscarriage, those that have faced a difficult and stressful pregnancy, and those that have suffered the devastating loss of their child late in pregnancy or after the child was born. I had a friend suggest a doula program to me.  It focuses on both helping with happy "normal" births and on helping people through bereavement and loss.  I was immediately drawn to it and felt called to do it.  So I started my training and in a few weeks, will be certified!  I am super excited about this.  This way I can help people through lots of different issues.
